Crusade and Co-Existence: Muslims, Christians, and Jews in Medieval Morocco and Spain

The “Crusade and Co-Existence” course provides students with an alternative to traditional study abroad programs, yet is still rich in educational value and travel experience. It is divided into two segments: The “State-Side” portion will consist of lectures, readings and discussions about the history of Muslim-Christian-Jewish relations in the Middle Ages. “Abroad” will consist of two weeks in Morocco and Spain, including visits to key sites.
Diego Rivera and the Muralists: Mexico’s Cultural Legacy, Past, Present and Future

The work of Diego Rivera and the Mexican revolutionary muralists documented an important moment in history, one of profound change and political upheaval. This study abroad program will examine the Rivera murals in Mexico City and Cuernavaca, and explore the cultural and political aspects that influenced him.The course will examine Mexican art, music and culture in Xalapa, Cuernavaca, and Oaxaca, and provide time with prominent art historians, cultural activists and scholars so that students may learn about Mexican perspectives of this important movement. Mexico’s rich cultural legacy lies not just behind the glass cases of museums, but in the hands of artists who are using this tradition of activism to push for social change.
Baking Under A Tuscan Sun

Baking Under A Tuscan Sun gives students the chance to explore Italy and go behind-the-scenes of some of its distinctive cuisine. Students will enjoy comprehensive sightseeing of major landmarks like the Doges' Palace, the Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum on an itinerary that touches Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento. They'll also visit a balsamic vinegar facility in Modena, take a class on Florentine cooking, take tours of a vineyard, an olive press and chocolate and limoncello factories before dining with Rome's greatest opera singers at a "Dinner With Tenors." It's a tour your tastebuds will never forget.
Normandy Invasion

Normandy Invasion gives students the opportunities to see in person the locations of events that shaped the world, and the European continent in particular. This journey to London, France and Belgium covers conflicts from the Battle of Hastings in 1066, to the Hundred Years' War's Battle of Agincourt in 1415, to the French Revolution, to World War II. In between trips to sites of martial consequence, students will explore Paris, London, Brussels and Rouen.
